About Us

John Kline

John is the glue of CRGC. His vision has brought the Garden Center from its small start to the business it is today. His easy going manner is loved by his employees as well as our customers. John can be found at the store very early in the morning with his cup of coffee to start another good day!

Mike Justice

Mike can be found anywhere throughout CRGC. He works in the nursery, answers lawn and garden questions, landscapes and helps out at the checkout counter. He is helpful to all our customers. Since 1980, Mike has been a friendly face at CRGC.

Adam Yakubik

Adam is the "go to guy" for any fertilizer or insect control question. His knowledge of greening up the lawn, making flowers grow bigger and controlling insects is vast. He has been at CRGC since the beginning and he has yet to be stumped with a question. Adam is also our seed person and knows where to find the specific bean someone might be looking for in his garden.

Betty Crafton

Betty is the first person you'll see when you enter CRGC. Her friendly smile will greet you at the door. Our customers worry about her if they come in on her day off and miss seeing her! Betty is our head cashier and has been with CRGC since day one. She is also the creative person responsible for all the decorated pots of flowers during the holidays.

Karen Sosnowski

Karen loves being in the greenhouse. She is knowledgeable about the many different types of annuals, perennials and herbs available at CRGC. Karen is very creative and enjoys designing one-of-a-kind flower pot for our customers (and employees, too!)

John "Tony" Kline

Tony is the greenhouse guy. Our 12,000 square foot greenhouse keeps Tony busy with annuals , perennials, herbs, vegetables, groundcovers and house plants. (I'm sure Tony could think of a few more items he watches over!) Tony is great at putting flowers together to get the most "Wow"! And Tony has the information needed to keep your flowers blooming throughout the season.

Steve Kline

Steve runs our three acre nursery. He is responsible for the supply, maintenance and sales of our landscape plants. Steve custom designs landscape plans for the homes of our customers. He also works closely with our landscapers to fill their plant orders. Steve enjoys being creative with landscaping the home with beauty and color to add value and enjoyment to the yard.

Jeannette Eberhardt

Jeannette can be found in the office three days a week. She is responsible for anything on paper! On the weekends she works as a cashier.

Julie Mothersbaugh

Julie has been with CRGC since she was 16 years old. She is one of our weekend cashiers and enjoys the friendliness shared with our customers. Julie is now our radio voice on WAKR. Although she does have a face for television!

Seth Mothersbaugh

Seth is our muscle here at CRGC. He can be found working in the nursery handling the extra heavy trees! Seth also answers landscape questions, waters nursery stock, loads cars with plants and landscapes as needed. Seth always looks forward to coming back to work in the Spring.

Ray Leasure

Ray is the last person you will see if you are getting any bags of fertilizer or dirt. He works our "back door" and is responsible for loading our customers' cars. Seems easy until he gets a ticket for 10 bags of mulch as well as bags of fertilizer for one car! Ray gets it done in a calm and cool manner.

Bob Rutan

Bob is the person you will see if you have a delivery made to your home. He is prompt and takes pride in delivering your plants and/or mulch with great care. One of Bob's hobbies is gardening; he enjoys talking with our customers about plants and such.

CANTON ROAD GARDEN CENTER - A KLINE FAMILY TRADITION SINCE 1980

Our tradition starts way before that! John Kline was raised on his family farm in south Akron. He learned about growing - growing vegetables and fruit. One day he realized he had a knack for this garden growing that he studied lawns, fertilizers, trees and shrubs.

When John was in his mid-thirties, he built Canton Road Garden Center. It has since grown to a 3 - acre nursery filled with landscape plants and a 12,000 square foot greenhouse loaded with gorgeous colorful flowers.

John and his family work together: his four children have all been raised in the garden business and work to support the family tradition. In fact, all the staff at Canton Road Garden Center has been together for nearly 30 years. If they are not related by blood - it sure seems like it.

Come out and see all of us. We may not be on the family farm anymore but we didn't move far from it!
