Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas Nursery

Hydrangeas are great for summer blooms with many varieties available from mop head to lace cap. Contrary to popular belief, there are sun varieties as well as shade varieties. Many varieties offer repeat blooms for flowers all summer. There are many sizes to choose from to fit your landscape needs. You can change the bloom color on some varieties of hydrangeas from pink to blue depending on your soil. Growers usually try to grow neutral in bloom colors yielding a pinkish blue bloom; use Holly Tone for a darker blue which acidifies your soil or use hydrated lime to sweeten your soil for a pinker bloom. HiYield has a great fertilizer for many blooms: Super Triple Phosphate 0-45-0.

Many of these varieties of Hydrangeas are available in tree form. Most tree forms grow to 10’ tall. These trees should be trimmed back heavy in the fall to prevent blooms from falling over the following season.

Macrophylla Hydrangeas offer blooms that resemble soft balls. Paniculata Hydrangeas offer long pointed blooms. We suggest you call to confirm availability of your favorite hydrangea.
