For best results, plant grass seed in cool wet weather. Spring or Fall is the best time of year. Plant grass seed in top soil – better soil produces a better yard. We suggest Starter Fertilizer and cover with either straw or Penn Mulch. This keeps the soil warmer and the seed from drying out. Canton Road Garden Center offers different types of grass seed: Sun Mix, sun/shade mix and shade mix.

The better grass seed is priced a little higher to offer a better quality of lawn. New Start is a sod quality grass seed. Tuff Turf is ideal for high traffic yards.

Keep lawn fertilized and watered and you will have green grass all year. If dependent on Mother Nature, she will determine the look of your lawn. Cool and wet summers offers green yards, hot weather brings brown sad grass. Use lime to sweeten your soil; grass likes a sweeter soil.
